as well. the team that was rebuilt, that new army and air force, the new navy thinking about was actually put to the test in desert storm. it was norman schwarzkopf who was chosen to lead that because of his position as being a commander in chief and central command at the time. what he showed with several things. first, he not only highlighted the technology improvements with his almost daily briefings, which that is where he got the nickname the bear. his nickname among the staff was storming norman for a reason. his nickname with the public was the bear. he was affable, but you could tell that the iron fist in a velvet glove guy who explained what was going on to the american people. he used precision weapons, videotapes, and a mission to convey that to the people. he was not only leading combat forces, but he was also explaining to the american people what his troops were doing and how they were doing it. it was a revelation for the american people to actually see this. there were some lessons learned from now. quite frankly, i think the american people may have gotten a little too mu

, the president is the stewart of the overall economy. you learn that in the navy as the captain of a ship. at the same time, both parties need to look and see that both speaker boehner and president obama did come close to a principaled compromise. i think they both have good intentions for the future of america's economy at heart. they were $500 billion away from a $2.5 trillion agreement. if they can both come forward a little bit more, president obama more on spending reductions including entitlement reform, he did do some and mr. boehner, speaker boehner coming forward not just $1 million having a tax raise, those earning $400,000 to $500,000, you can get the grand bargain. it's not what we are talking today. get the fiscal cliff to where you change the scale to a bunny slope, where the skier can pick up speed, accelerate the economy up to 3%, only reducing the debt reduction down 200 billion. then with the surging economy, you get $3 trillion in february before the debt limit is broken, then the economy is so strong it can take the grand compromise and roar into the next nine years.

in the closet, the trauma they must be severancing now is beyond belief. if a navy seal did this, i'd be in awe. but for a teach better no experience to have those instincts is absolutely incredible. one of the things that perhaps saved a number of lives is during the commotion, somebody in the office keyed the public address system and people could hear throughout the building, then could hear a scream and could hear gun shots. it was only on for a couple of seconds, but that was enough and the teachers started locking the doors from the inside. how many children's lives were saved because somebody had the quick thinking to do just that? >> gretchen: this will probably change the way in which so many schools view security and what's next? where have we come to in a culture where we have to rethink all of this about our kids being safe at school? >> brian: coming up straight ahead, supposed to be the most detailed report yet about what happened in benghazi. it's due out within hours. will it provide any answers? that's the key. >> steve: and he searched for his lost dog for five years. and the
